Okay, so from Janets Foss there is a short walk upstream to Goredale Scar. I visited before but was unimpressed by the bare rocks and clear water. Little sun reaches inside the scar itself so no colourful mosses.
On approach, through the camp site, the sun refused to shine but I snapped anyway as the river winds its way through temptingly (I know that bit of sky is horrible, but necessary).

Now heres the catch, to see the main fall you have to climb that big rock in the middle of the shot. It is only a few meters tall and in summ not a problem, but in the rain with alot more water coming down limestone is a bugger! But I managed to get up, getting down was fun. Bearing in mind you need stout, grippy walking shoes not wellies and I was upto my knees in water for this shot! (you arrive on the right hand side of the fall....
)But the impressive views are worth it:

The last two were the most difficult to take due to the immense amount of spray, this is the most impressive fall I have seen in Yorkshire (akin to something in Norway) and alot of water was coming down. It was also getting dark so a faster exposure (which I would have liked) was out of the question and I will return to get one!
From above the falls their is an impressive view up the steep gorge, but it was dark so no shots, next time maybe. I managed to climb down the rock face, but had to divert a little into gon**d deep water, a little chilly but worth it??
All comments welcome.
