Yep thats right Brad its Marilyns old site , I remember when you first came there , you did a pdf tutorial remember ,, your right in saying its more devoted to Painter but as you know the technique is much the same and a lot can be learned from Painter techniques thinking from a Photoshop toolset , plus they do have a lot of PS resources and discussion which is 99% about painting photos .
I havent been there for such a long time and Im not a member , but it was an excellant resource .
I think the pay website thing is going to become more and more , they cost to run , especially when they deliver what you need , I am mainly into 3D fantasy art stuff these days and some of the tutorial sites for 3D are pay and they cost plenty , way the webs going I feel .

(((( downside is its a paid membership , but it dont cost much and if its this painterly technique you want to learn you will hard pressed to find more info in one place . )))

!

Rod

My point is. . . .why would you commit to something when they don't tell you in ADVANCE what the cost is!! You say it is inexpensive! How much is it?

I have both of Brad's discs and I was interested in this other aspect as well. I think it is a very poor business practice to hide cost until you are deep into the sign up process.

I agree, however, that $25 or $40 is fairly inexpensive if the rescources are of quality, as are Brad's, notwithstanding the fact that the Mac is not considered.

Here's a Virtual Oil of a senior I did. The background was done in Painter. The virtual oil technique is taught on the Virtual Oils DVD on my website. You can see how the eyes and lips are done.

Very nice Brad. I like the blending of the background into the subject. The eyes and lips are very nice indeed. The only detail that I do not care for is the line on the left side of her neck, (The right side as we are looking at it.)
Other than that it is excellent.

No, I don't use that brush. I have seen others use it with good results but I don't use that in my tutorials.

HMMM, I registered and then I was confirmed to log in without having to pay. Then I logged in and was told I needed to pay. Interesting.

Now, according to what I remember reading, the name you used to register is "forever" banned!! Scary HUH?

I hope you have a BIG monitor, After someone on the forum told Brad I was disapointed I had not heard from him after I emailed him my first attempt, (after sale service) Brad told me I needed a bigger monitor. I don't know how he knew that. I have a 20" desktop, but I did my first attempt on my tiny 17" laptop.

I think he was being gentle, I think you do need artistic talent and I, unfortunately, have none, I guess! I have never been able to accomplish a decent signature on my 6 X 8 Wacom tablet.

One mistake I made was to do it on my laptop rather than my desktop. Not because of the screen size, but because I only have CS3 beta on my latptop, a Mac Powerbook, on which CS3 shows no brush sizes.
