I hope you have a BIG monitor, After someone on the forum told Brad I was disapointed I had not heard from him after I emailed him my first attempt, (after sale service) Brad told me I needed a bigger monitor. I don't know how he knew that. I have a 20" desktop, but I did my first attempt on my tiny 17" laptop.

I think he was being gentle, I think you do need artistic talent and I, unfortunately, have none, I guess! I have never been able to accomplish a decent signature on my 6 X 8 Wacom tablet.

One mistake I made was to do it on my laptop rather than my desktop. Not because of the screen size, but because I only have CS3 beta on my latptop, a Mac Powerbook, on which CS3 shows no brush sizes.

Hi Don!

I think there's a problem in communication in the email I sent you. I didn't say you needed a larger monitor. That's not true at all. I believe I was referring to the WACOM tablet. I have a laptop too and have produced great looking paintings with absolutely no problem. Also, I haven't heard you were unhappy. I'm not sure where that information has come from. As far as I've known, I've answered all your emails. If not, I invite you to email me personally. Please understand, the purchase of the DVD tutorials do not come with personalized training. I currently receive over 120 emails each day and simply don't have the time to address each email.

If there is a question you have, please email me and I will personally respond as quickly as possible.

Again, no special monitor is needed to do the DVDs. Hope that helps everyone!

Interesting tutorial sites Rod. I remember combing through a lot of those when I was trying to learn how to convert prints to paintings in PS. Some good and some just down right BLAH!

Brad:

I never suggested nor asked for any special or personalized service. I was surprised that you did not answer my email where I attached my first attempt since I think I was at least one of the first to purchase the 2 DVD's as a set. And all of my questions before I purchased were quickly dealt with. No big deal. I wondered if I had been able to accomplish anything at all on my own.

I have no questions other than I wondered why you suggested that I needed a larger monitor. . .actually you said "screen". Nor why you did not acknowledge my comments on ways that would help me and others. I kept those comments off the forum and in a private message even though they were not negative. Here is the line from your email:

It would help if you had a larger screen I think

I am sorry if I misread screen to mean monitor, but that is what it means to me.
I have absolutely no complaints! I do think that it takes some talent and that not everyone is capable of achieving the look you and other artistic people get

Thanks. I did the face, but not real heavy. Still not sure about the jacket. Photo was taken during a snow fall, with snow on the hood and shoulders. Difficult to decide how to handle the white on black. Ends up looking like a chaulkboard.

when you do this, what tool is selected, and is it done free hand so you have to like, draw or trace the photo, picking colors along the way or is it simply just like running a brosh over the shot to sorta "blur" it? i ordered the dvds but cant wait to start.

Hi Zacker,
I got the DVD and it is great. You are asking the same questions that I asked and you will find almost every single one answered. Get the DVD and just follow along, it is very well done. I am addicted to it. Just take your time and don't be in a rush.
Brad has been very good about answering emails so I would just email him directly.
Post your pic as soon as it is done so we can all see it.

Hi Zacker. The dvd includes the brushes that you use. Simple process to follow, but you do have to be carefull. It is easy to distort features. The dvd is very well done. And now to find time to practice.

Great to hear all the positive comments! If you liked the oil, I think you'll love the pastels. It's a longer video (an hour and a half) and it addresses issues the Oils doesn't. Anyone have comments about the pastels DVD?
