Here's a photo submitted by LFranga. I used my technique to convert it to a pastel drawing. (All done with a mouse and NO graphic tablet).

There was no background in the actual picture so I had to add that in from another photo and paint it. So, it took a bit longer than most. Maybe a little over an hour. Thanks for the comments!

Vixtran (or anyone else out there ) - got your DVD's and am working my way through them. Just a quick question - not sure how to phrase this correctly but any suggestion as to how you deal with subjects with glasses / spectacles. Are the glasses painted at the same time as the face or dealt with as a seperate layer.

Thanks

They can be painted during the face process. Many times I'll marquee different sections, feather them and place them on a separate layer and merge them later. I try to remove any bad highlights from the glass as well.

Thanks for the information re glasses.

For your information your dvd's took a week to arrive just like Paul's (MeatyO). Once again I mirror all the other comments you have done a fantastic job.

Robert

I'm glad everyone has enjoyed the DVDs and found them to be a great learning tool! Here's another portrait I really loved. I love warm colors and usually they are carried throughout all my work. This technique is a combination of the Virtual Oil Tutorial DVD and the Virtual Pastel Tutorial DVD available on the website.

I don't do many people photos. Can this technique work with birds ? If so do you have any examples. If not feel free to look under my posts and pick one to work with.

I'll give it a try this weekend and post one of your birds here. It shouldn't be a problem.

Havent had a go at painting for couple of years , this thread and a bit of spare time today gave me a reason to have a doodle ,, not as smooth a style as Brads as I like to go abit course which gives a different look , thats the beauty of painting as it has so much latitude to develope your own style ,,, very relaxing , geez I might be getting the bug again :)

Looks great, Here's my attempt at smudging. I want to grab the DVD but 'm afraid I won't be able to produce the type of quality images as I have been seeing here. Is it easier with a Intous pad? Please feel free to comment.

hey brad, im using CS2 but for some reason my keyboard shortcuts wont work, no big deal, just thought id ask if you know what the deal is.. The dvd is great, im working on a pic and im almost done, ill post it as soon as i finish it! Thanks again for offering this for sale!

And yes, the Intuose is great, the pen is very natrual feeling and the control ( pen pressure) really helps!
