White balance generally isn't a problem outdoors--how could it be? But indoors it gives me fits. Is there a sure fire way of getting it accurate with customising? The manual mentions using a photo quality gray card. Is there a trick to doing that without going through the trouble of buying such a card at a photo store?

A grey card will simply calibrate your meter to neutral or Zone V. It will not adjust your white balance.

Oh. Well, thanks for telling me that. I got to wonder, then why did they even mention it in the manual for customizing your white balance. You must be saying that it was a mistake. Any way I have discovered a not so perfect way to correct my mistake--that is, make sure that there is something white in the photo itslef so you can use the eye dropper on it to correct it in post processing.
