Yes it does, i get a number in the upper corner when i adjust the shutter and aperture.

A "number" and a histogram are two different things.

The S2 (at least mine) has the manual exposure number, and the histogram. But with so many ways to get proper exposure, I rarely use mine in manual mode.

I stand corrected then. I guess I had my S2 for such a short time I never knew that. Enjoy!

There seems to be a lot of confusion here.

In manual mode (I quote directly from the S3 manual p61)

"When you press the shutter button halfway, the difference between the standard exposure* and the selected exposure appears on the LCD monitor (or viewfinder). If the difference is more than 2 stops, "-2" or "+2" appears on the LCD monitor (or viewfinder) in red.

* The standard exposure is calculated by measuring the brightness according to the selected metering method.

This is the histogram on an S3...

Hope this clarifies.

There's no such thing as a bad photo, just the wrong audience.
EQUIPMENT: Canon Powershot S3 IS, 2x Transcend 2GB x150 SD, 2x 4GB Class 4 Dane-Elec SDHC, LensMate 52mm Adapter Tube and lots of stuff to hang on it.
A couple of flashes and a couple of strobes. My other camera is a Sony DSC-P200.
