I just talked to Shane. He took the details, and is gonna send them to someone higher up in the rebate center. Said I'll get some info in the next couple of days. I wish the rebate center people were as nice.

I've only talked to the rebate people (Young America) once. They WERE nice, the problem is, apparently too many of them are crooks.

Has anyone had any problems with the zip code they have on that rebate? It says the zip code is 88575 for El Paso, TX but all TX zip codes are 7xxxx.

Edit.
I just checked the zip code and it is for El Paso.

ok heres an update on my situation.

I had to resubmit my warranty card for my 30d ($100) because it "was not included". I received my return receipt from the post office a few days ago and checked the rebate status online today. Guess what it says?

Your rebate has completed the first 2 of 4 steps
A check request for $30.00 is being processed.

Where on the rebate application does it say anything for a 30d rebate for $30???? Idiots, crooks, scammers. Pick a name.

Called up Canon at 800-828-4040 and talked to someone who I beleive was named david. He knew exactly how the process worked and took down my information and "escalated" it. I should receive a call within 2-3 business days.

If you want your stuff sorted out call Canon, not Young America!

If your having problems, have them "escalate it". After faxing copies of everything to Brad, who works for Canon, all my problems were resolved, see post #203. As of today, I've received all money due to me from all (3) rebates. Time it took: less than 2 weeks.

Its been almost 4 days and still no response from canon or any update on the website. What also sucks is that I sent by 2nd rebate in by mail a few weeks ago, certified and return receipt. I still havnt got the receipt back...

This is an update to my post (below) from a week ago.

Norris, the Canon rep I spoke to last week called me again today just to follow up and see how things had been handled after he escalated my complaint to another rep named Katie. I told him that not only did Katie work to solve the problem immediately, I just checked this morning and I have two rebates listed as "check mailed". One for $640 and one for $190. I'm only waiting on one more for $200 and I'm done. He wanted to know if I was satisfied with the way Canon had handled the problem. I told him that I was extremely happy with Canon, but I was extremely unhappy with Young America. He assured me again that Canon knows about the problems they are causing and is not standing by doing nothing. I hope this is the last time they use such an unscrupulous company to handle their rebates.

I called Canon an hour ago to complain about the way Young America has been handling these rebates, mine specifically, and spoke to a very helpful rep named Norris. He took all of my information and I just received a call from another rep named Katie who assured me she will take care of it right away. I also encouraged her to have a Canon representitive stop by this forum, and this thread in particular and take note of what is being said and comment if possible. She said that is a great idea and asked me to send a link, which I did. I hope we hear from them soon. I was also assured that Canon is very well aware of the problems being caused by YA, and was told "Canon is taking this very seriously and the complaints are not falling on deaf ears". I am very optimsitic about how Canon will handle this in the future! They are a good company being given a bad reputation by a bad company.

I ended up calling a Canon Rep after four weeks with nothing showing on their site. Within a week, it shows my check is ready to be mailed for $410! Enough to pay for some of the extra costs if canon ups the price from what originally showed. I have another rebate to submit now for $350, I feel a little more comfortable now. I held onto the second rebate, as I did not want two in the system at the same time and have them confuse them if I had to protest something.

I had every I dotted, every t crossed, and still had to call Canon. They might have gotten it anyway, but I am glad this part of the deal is over. I IHATE rebates! I wish Canon wold just run a sell once in a while, even if it is for less money. I know, they don't want to do that, it is more profitable for them to give a $200 rebate then $150 off. Go figure, with all the expenses of them having to hire a company to handle rebates, yet it is still cheaper than that way due to denying rebates, losing rebates, people giving up on rebates or not applying for them. A scam, IMHO!

Canon double rebate program

I have read with interest the posts where some people said they were having a problem with the rebate program. I have a different story to tell. I mailed my rebates (5D and 85mm f1.8 lens, $640 rebate) on Feb 9 by certified mail, and today I got an email from Canon saying my rebate was processed and I would receive my rebate in two to three weeks. There is the down payment on my 40D, provided it is 12 mp, digic 3, 6400 ISO, and retains the 1.6 crop!!! YAHOOO Thanks Canon. PS I LOVE that 5D and the 85mm f1.8 lens setup.

Please speak slowly and distinctly. I have a wife, AND a computer, I don't need any more confusion in my life.

A couple of years ago, I put up a big, long fight with the rebate center folks when Canon ran their Triple Rebate program and close to $600 was denied me with the typical BS reasons that you're all aware of by now. (I got the money eventually.)

When I recently submitted for my double rebate return, of course I was quite ready for what I expected to be another BS round. And, YES, folks! I'm happy to report that, again!, I'll have another round of fight with them to get my money back. Today, as soon as I saw a familiar looking postcard from the rebate center, I just bursted out laughing....

The card read: "Thank you for participating in the Cash in with Canon rebate offer. Unfortunately your rebate was declined for the following reason(s): A copy of the warranty card was not included."

Oh yea! You just picked the wrong person to screw with....

I could not agree with you more Joe. I'd rather get a smaller discount at the time of purchase than to have to go through this crap. Not to mention when you buy locally you still have to pay taxes on the full amount before rebate.

Don't get too excited, this doesn't mean you'll get the check. Have the Canon Rebate phone number ready...

Not to alarm or worry you, but I did the same that you did, certified mail, received an email, but I have yet to get my rebates and I sent them in the beginning of January.

Time to call Canon (not Young America). Follow my instructions in your other thread: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=278341

2 months and two phone calls later and I got myself a $840 check in the mail. Woohoo!!!!

Now time for round two ;)
