Not morons... crooks. For every denied rebate, they get to keep the money. When dealing with tens of millions of dollars, even 5% adds up big time. It is YA that does it, or their crooks employees who steal the info and submit it for themselves. Figure it out. How can they make money giving a $300 rebate when it costs them an extra $40 in overhead costs to handle the rebates? They save more money giving a $300 rebate than if they just discounted the product to $200 to begin with. Common sense says rebates are not in the consumers best interest. I hope Canon got the word, but since it saves them money, or makes them money, they still don't have enough incentive to be honest with their customers.

yes I am not very impressed with this BS, I guess their plan is to cause as much headache as possible so people give up

I have done lots of rebates on many things and this is the first time I have ever had an issue

I checked on the site they "apparently" mailed me a check for 2 of the rebates but not the third because of the "missing warranty card". Ok so here is the wonderful part they dont tell you which one you did not send them either, simply BS.

I sent an email to canon about this that I am sure will be ignored :(

I just received a card in the mail that said I failed to submit copies of my warranty cards. Hogwash. I did submit them. I still have the copies that I made (kept one for myself and sent one to them with the other rebate paperwork). What a joke.

My UPCs were stapled to my copies of the warrany cards and I got the same notice. Actually, I saw the message on the rebate website and before I even received the card, I called Canon. They expidited the process and I didn't have to resubmit anything. Call Canon at 800-828-4040.

good thing i called canon rebate.........

and maybe you should too.

i submitted my rebate application in the first week of january for $690 -- 5d + 300L f4 IS.
i received an e-mail a month later that said i would get a check in two weeks.

it never came.

about 3 weeks ago i got another e-mail that said 5-8 weeks.

it's been almost 12 weeks since my application and i still don't have my rebate so i called canon today.
the gal said a $45 check for the 300L had recently been returned to them. i told her i was expecting $690 so why was $45 sent and why was it returned?

she said canon had the wrong zip code and then i asked her to check my application.
she did a sure enough she said all my paperwork was in order and that she would make the award today for $690 and i would receive a check in 4-6 weeks.

canon may be a great company with a great product but their rebate program is a huge disappointment and possibly a scam.

if you have any questions about your rebate call canon NOW!!

edit: my rebate info has never shown on canon's rebate website.

I too was listed on the rebate website as receiving about half of what I was owed. I called them, and they cleared the issues right up, and processed my checks right then while I was still on the phone. Within two days, the checks were mailed according to the status website...

Not possibly, DEFINITELY a scam.

I sent in UPCs twice via cerified mail return read receipt. First time they disappeared, the second time they "never got them". I called canon 4 times before I found someone that actually followed through with their promise to "escalate" my claim. I e-mailed scanned copies of the UPCs to their rep and she called me back in 72 hours to tell me she'd get me a check in a few days. That was last Thursday and I'm finally confident a check will come for MY $730.

Did you preregister online? Once I did that, they sent me a confirmation email that I was able to use to link to my rebate status website. From there I checked the status of verything that was going on. I instantly noticed that they were sending me half of my money only, so I called and got it figured out quickly.

I guess I should be thankful that nothing ever got lost in the mail, etc. Granted my rebate was only a total of $300, it still would have sucked to have lost it. Cheers

Congrats! I think somebody should schedule a POTN members meet in Young America, MN. There might be some business to take care of there.
