I took the plunge and just went with the Epson Perfection 4490 PHOTO scanner. Let me tell you something, this scanner is unbelievable. I put my 4x6's right on the flatbed, and in about 30 seconds in auto mode, I have a picture on my screen that looks like it was taken with my SD700. These pictures are as far back as 20 years old and they look FABULOUS. the auto mode works perfectly. I can only imagine what it does for film/negatives/slides. I've scanned almost 1000 4x6 photos in about 10 hours worth of use. This baby is AMAZING and I just wanted to throw it out there if you want an amazing scanner for a really decent price ($200-) GET THE EPSON PERFECTION 4490 PHOTO SCANNER!!!:D

Best part of this deal...Staples has a 2 week no questions asked return policy. This thing is so fast, once I'm done scanning everything I have, I'm getting my 200 bucks back!

I'll have to check it out. I am looking for a new scanner. I kind of screwed up my old one. Got some dust inside under the glass and, well it didn't come apart as easily as I would have thought. Anyway, duct tape is an amazing repair tool. Thanx for sharing your experiance. :)

I'm not very knowledgable about scanners, but at my desk at work (motion graphics post-facility), i have an EPSON Perfection 3590 PHOTO, and it works wonders as well.

I scan files extremely quickly and the quality always comes out extremely high in resolution. Just thought I should shed some 2cents aswell

its not what you do while people are around, but what you do when nobody's watching you that defines who you are;)

Pretty crappy plan, in my opinion. It's stuff like this that drives prices up for the rest of us. Thanks.

If you were in my shoes, I will avoid buying printer and scanner from Epson.

Please don’t buy anything from Epson again because Epson is really crook.

Let me tell you about my bad experience with Epson's customer service after my printer broke down and my warranty was 2 months ran out after Epson customer service avoid my emails and calls.

Many Mac users are upset and pissed off at Epson after they bought new scanners / printers for OS-9 then one year later, Epson released new scanners for Macintosh OS-X because Epson didn’t bother to keep update softwares for just one years old printers/scanners with OS-9.
Epson expected that force suckers to buy new scanners / printers with OS-X. Because suckers were stuck with their unavailable using printers/scanners with OS-9

Epson customer service avoid them on phone about this matters.

Many Mac users vowed that they would never buy any products from Epson again.
I am one of them too.

Please don’t buy anything from Epson. BOYCOTT EPSON! Thanks.

You will be better a lot off with Canon's printers / scanners. Canon Inc keep to update software for OS-X since Apple released out new OS-X few years ago and Canon’s customer service is excellent and honest.
