Hi, towards the end of last year i bought a second hand Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 IS still under warranty........

Now, there is nothing wrong with the lense but i was just wondering, if i needed to send it in to be calibrated or cleaned inside, how would i stand with the warranty? i have the receipt for it from London Camera Exchange, however, it has the previous owners name on it. Is this going to be a problem??

Can someone tell me where i would need to send it [In the UK] and how i should go about sending it in [Bearing in mind the warranty issue], as i am thinking that at sometime before the warranty runs out i would like to send it in for calibration just to make sure it's up to par and to have the tiny little bit of dust in it removed.

Many thanks for your help here, i've been looking through a whole load of posts on the board and there are some really talented people here! [LIke i neded to tell you that!] anyway i really like the friendly atmosphere on this board so i shall be hanging round for a while to come.....

Cheers

Steve

I don't believe that the warranties are transferrable, but I'd suggest you check with Canon UK. (I know that Tamron warranties can not be transferred to a new owner).

I bought a used 24-70 that was still under warranty. It was one of the lemons, so I called Canon and told them the situation. They said all they wanted was a copy of the receipt verifying the date of purchase. I sent it in, they calibrated it and I received it back 10 days from the day I shipped it.
