GMU vs UNCW (second bball attempt)

well this time i shot in AV and it seemed to come out better, i changed the white balance as well. settings advice is always welcome.
settings:
av, al servo, single center point focus, tungsten wb, on monopod (for most pics)
lens:
ef 75-300, 28-90

Too dark...at least on my monitor...
Blurred like it doesnt have a high enough shutter speed...
I dont think the lenses you have will work for what you want...

You got better sightlines this time... so that is good. What ISO was the camera set at?

the iso is 1600, i wish i could afford to buy a nice lens, but as for now i guess this is as good as i can do, and as for dark, yes i think they are more dark then last time but last time i shot in full manual and over exposed a little bit on purpose.

Hey, I've lived the student life myself. I feel for ya. I think some of the softness you got here is from ISO 1600. But you may also be getting some camera shake creeping in there too. When your shooting with your lens extended all the way to 300, even the slightest wiggle is amplified. These shots are easy to identify in that they will have an overall softness to them with no real identifiable area in sharp focus. Your first shot is a likely candidate for this problem. You can over come this with some practice, and good breathing technique. It is kind of easy to tell which ones here you used the monopod with... it does help.

Your second and third shots are reasonably good and workable. Just a touch of work in post production would have these looking really good. The fourth shot is just miss focused, happens a lot to all of us. You'll just want to keep practicing tracking the players - but even then the camera guesses wrong.

But hey... it's all fun. George Mason was fun to watch last year - even for someone that covers Carolina teams. Good luck with this season.... and keep clicking. You never know when you'll get that "one" special image. Pros take thousands of images just to have a very small percentage used. The more you shoot... your odds and skill will improve too. You have a great start on it... and a fun subject to shoot. Cheers!

thanks, yea the monopod did help a lot i'm sure i had better shots then this, but i didn't bring them all out of raw, nor did i do much editing at all.i'm still practicing with the raw images. i took about 200 pictures but i didn't go through them all yet. thank you for all the advice i can't wait to get a better lens for the camera.
