Has anyone tried out those 'made in China' battery grips that are on EBay?

They seem to be about half the price of a genuine Canon grip (I'm looking at the BG-E2). If they were cheaper, I'd just get one...but maybe if they are actually of a decent quality, then I'd consider it. Without knowing more about them, I'm inclined to just spend the extra clams on the Canon.

Do a search for Opteka grips in this forum, lots of threads. I've got one on my XT, 90-95% of the Canon for 50% of the price. Don't know who is making the BG-E2 grips, I think that they are a fairly recent item.

The Opteka grip looks good...but the only place I found selling it was 47th Street Photo (through Amazon)...and they seem to get a fair number of bad reviews/complaints.

There is the Targus grip at B&H:

I thought I read somewhere that it was the Opteka, but I can't remember where. I don't have any experience with this grip, but have debated it.

I was thinking about the targus grip for my 20D but the guy at B&H said I should stick with the canon grip just in case there are any problems. If you have a problem with a third party grip, what do you do? Send the grip and the camera to Canon? to Targus? Enough people have had issues with grips and cameras for this to make sense to me. I went with the BG-E2.

I think the Canon's BG E2 grips are from China as well. The opteka one feels cheaper and is cheaper though.
