I have had a CB58FT for about a year. Very impressed with it. Ball moves smoothly and a quick twist of the locking knob holds even my 500mm solidly in place. My only dissapointment was that the FLM QR plate does not take Swiss Arca plates. (Did not realise that when I bought it) so I have replaced the plate an SA compatible plate. You can buy the ball without the plate. Prior to that I had a Manfrotto ball head. Maybe I had a bad one, but it never seemed to lock securly without really harse tightening of the clamp. Vorspunge Durch Technic - or is that my Audi..

I bought a Centerball 24 F for on my monopod, and it is impossible to lock down tightly enough. Try before you buy!

Yes just but the FLM ball and a seperate QR plate. The FLM has a standard 3/8 inch screw, and every plate I have seen is threaded to accept 3/8 in.

I too have a CBT 38FT and I have no issues with it in 18 months usage.
I've just moved over to give the Manfrotto Hydrostatic a run for its money so my FLM is for sale if you're interested.

Contact me for details if desired

Greg

To be honest it arrived this morning and I haven't left the house with it yet ( and if this rain persists at the weekend I probably wont then either ) Ha Ha !!
Size and handling is much the same barrring the knobs. Looks promising anyway.
Soon as I can get an opinion together I'll drop you a line.

Cheers

Greg
