I don't normally shoot birds, but I pulled back into our parking lot after shooting a property (I'm in real estate) and this beauty was sitting on a branch. I slowly opened my sunroof and poked out my 28-105 at max zoom... I got 4 or 5 not-so-bad shots off before she bolted.

ID? I think it's a Sharp Shinned Hawk? Southern Connecticut...

TIA :D

Nice shot and a lot of luck seeing the bird there. But do you know what you've started? :D

Just to get the ball rolling, looks like a Coopers Hawk. ;)

Oh JOY! Another Sharp Legged Red Shouldered Coopers Winged Hawk...

Hmm, seriously- too big for a Sharpie;
Too spotty and 'thick around the middle' for a Coopers
Juvenile Broad winged? I'm leaning towards that...but not so far that I'm about to fall over
I don't believe it is a red tailed or red shouldered

Hard to tell, maybe we should all start passing out 'Hello, my name is...' stickers with markers to these birds!

oops! didn't mean to start anything.. :oops:

My initial impulse was a juvey red tail from his flight and their local abundance but the more I looked at the photo the more I started fooling myself...

Thanks!

Perhaps it should just be a BBJ, (cousin to the infamous "Little Brown Job")
