Anyone using the view sscreen or whqtever it is called with the 8x10 marks? This is for helping with framing subjects for 8x10 prints?

I have the hardest time remebering framing for accurate cropping to make 8x10's etc..

Well, this is how I look at it. If you're unsure about composition and framing, remember, you have a lot of megapixels to work with. Just go a little wide, and don't worry about it. Then you can crop and frame however you want later.

I use the laser grid matte screen, it really helps with making sure things are straight

Thanks for the replies so far. I generally try to remeber but I get carried away and forget so by the end of the shoot i am framing perfect in camera then when I got to print things have to get chopped off. Guess i have to beat it in my head on every picture i take.

Ronald: I have no issues keeping it straight, just framing subjects for a proper 8x10 etc....

I did a shoot last week and did remeber to frame wide, then the customer wanted to see the pictures right then. I tried explaining why the floor and the ceiling was in the pictures and will not be there in final print. I know the focus screen will not help in that situation, just wanted to know if that is what this is for:

and if anyone has used them or likes/dislikes them etc...

The grid screen shows the framing for 10x8s - you just frame full width, and use the end lines length-wise :D

ps - when shooting for clients who would want to look through the camera, I'd mask the screen with masking tape along those gridlines so they could visualise the framing.

thats the one I use and love, not sure if it is a 8x10 crop, that wasn't my main concern with it
