My wife is running in the Houston Marathon this coming Sunday and I think the weather will be bad, however, that doesn't stop us photographers.

Can you recommend a good zooming compact camera that is a bit weather resistant? I am not all that concerned about megapixels as I am zooming ability and weather proofness.

Thanks.

Can makes an inexpensive underwater housing that works with most of their compact P&S.

Yes, but buying camera and housing is more expensive than buying only waterproof camera. Unfortunately, afaik only Olympus makes some waterproof models (down to 2 meters, I think). And I think about 3x zoom...

Sorry for mentioning Olympus on Canon forum  :)

I'm sorry for possible bad english

I think Pentax does, or at least did, also.

yes Pentax and olympus make waterproof cameras, with the Olympus getting better rating. my dad has the olympus one and it works nice, but its a true compact, and doesnt have anything resembling good zoom range. your best bet is a compact with good zoom and underwater housing. a lot of canon compacts have canon housing that is MUCH cheaper than third party stuff. but then you are looking at a lot more money. idealy you could get a G7 and housing.

I know this is too late for you but have you considered something like a Kata Bag for your DSLR?

No, but thanks. The weather actually worked out great and I was able to use the good stuff. I ended up getting a Pentax optio W20 that will be good for any rainy day weather, or beach pics.;)
