I'm starting to get alot of feedback from locals an getting jobs doing model shots, special requests, between having a crappy camera(Not even a Digital SLR)and no equipment,i hate showing up with nothing other then me,my camera, and my Tripod.I'm saving for maybe a nikon D200 or canon 30d or something.

However, along with doing photography i do manipulations and artsy stuff also.I would love feedback from some people in the game for awhile.

you can see my work at

Hi and welcome to POTN. I took a look at your deviantart gallery and I must say your surrealist compositions are really powerful. I've always wanted to transition to some photo manipulation (especially surrealism) from my photography; you don't by chance know of some links or books which could guide me a bit? Did you learn this by playing about with photoshop?
Anyways nice work there.

I would suggest that you post one or two of your favorite photos using the img tag because others are more likely to comment then.

Yes,playing about photo shop and Paint Shop Pro......never read a book,took a class,or anything.....

There is a magazine called Computerarts.co.uk.
they have great tutorials in there every now and then!!!!!
other then that google photoshop tutorials an you can find some good stuff.

I have learned that finding the right photograph,or taking it yourself can help, but above all else.......Creativity......you would be amazed at how easy some of those were to do!!!!Just took a little thought and creativeness to get there......

thanks for the feedback!!!!!

and if you ever need help with something i would be more then happy to tell you how i achieved something!!!

Yeah alot is about creativity, I guess I'll just jot down some ideas on paper, get going in photoshop and check back in google should I get stuck.

I like the second image you posted the best, it really has a very haunting feel to it.

Btw, thanks for sharing and inspiring me!

Odd, creepy, weird, bizarre and totally fantastic.
Like them a lot. Very well done.
Second shot is disturbing and brilliant. I saw a movie called silent hill which gave me the shivers like this. I would love to see the original pic to work out what you did. NICE

2 EOS 1 mkII Dn's, 24-70 2.8L,70-200 2.8L,14 prime 2.8L,100 macro 2.8, metz, metz, and more metz...plus a whole load of other stuff that really is unimportant. It all about the picture, not the tool.
Had the 1ds for a few weeks then realised was overkill. Bought 5d and the 400mm instead.

WoW thanks so much for all the feedback.Yeah i gues hanging on to my camera is a good idea.the button broke off =(.....so now i have to use a push pin to even take freaking pics,i'm trying to get it fixed now.I am saving for a dslr, hopefully soon.........i was thinking maybe a nikon D200 or a Canon 30D...any recommendations............

VWYOB!!!!!!!!
Ahhhh as for the 2nd pic......i have no earthly idea where that original is,i keep all my old pics in folders, but i can't find that one......however i'd love to share with you.............Soooo heres how i did it.

I took a picture of me sitting down in front of a painting on the wall of a house i use to live in.......then i took another picture of me standing directly in front of the painting, facing the painting with my arms posisitioned like i was crawling up.

now for photoshop...........i cut the picture out of the frame on the wall and made a layer behind it of all black........i took the arms from the 2nd picture an pasted as new layer on 1st picture ......flipped them to face down an then simply added the black smokey stuff you see around the arms with different brushes.....

WAAHHHH LAHHHHHHH

I call it...............Evil Intentions........

hehehheehe

any recommendations on a good photography school......i live in mobile alabama and man it really sucks here.I would like to get out and go to a photography college somewhere that maybe has financial aid support.I guess a degree might come in handy,i am constantly looking an pictureing and imagining what i can do with things.....i guess some sort of career in this might be in order......then again i always think if it becomes a job i'll hate it.....so who knows hahahaha but any recommendations would be nice

THANKS AGAIN!!!!!

I'm speechless.

I do portrait photography, so don't know how to offer an educated/experienced opinion. So here's the opinion of your average Joe:

Spectacular. Absolutely spectacular.
Exactly as vwyob stated "Odd, creepy, weird, bizarre and totally fantastic."

Yeah, I've seen a good amount of this type of stuff on other forums/DA and such... Your work is very nice. I like #2 the best, its really well done. 5 and 6 are nice too. The typo on 5 needs some help.

Your gallery is outstanding. it is by far my favorite work that i have seen. i came close to buying one, but u dont have it enabled.

I would love to learn how to do that, i sometimes get creative, and try that, but it never comes out right... lol. i just need to keep trying i guess.

Yours are great tho, keep up the good work, and i will be checking your deviant art gallery often.

it shows that it is not the camera and equipment that matters.
but the Photographer and his ideas.

I expect to hear more of you.
