Whitby revisited

As the weather continues to be pretty dire, I've revisited a few unprocessed raw files from last year.
All taken around sunrise. Canon 1Ds MKII.

1st. 15sec @ f14, ISO100, 24-105 F4l lens.

All nice shots.......but the first one is the best in my view. Simple composition, nice colours....well captured. Looks like a nice place to wander around with the camera.

As stunning as always Les! Love Whitby. 1, 2 and 6 are my favourites. The simplicity of #1 really works well.

Yes, they are absolutely stunning and #1 is my favourite! I dream of producing shots like this!

Although i like the whole series,and especially the light in # 1 (different approach on framing i see eh?),still i prefer the pier shot.

Very interesting to see the difference in the pier between night and day,hmm i think i would go for the night shot.
Very different mood and light,i love that huge difference between the cold and warm light / colour of the image.

Really admire your photography Les, especially your longer exposure work.
1,2,3, I love, even the framing of #4 is excellent.

I've been trying long exposures lately but not to many come out appealing.
I think I wait to late in the evening, well after dark.

Wow, they're all great...but I really love the colors and richness of #2.

Lovely shots with great light andcomposition, except for 4, which I find a bit tightly framed number 3 works better for me. I really should give Whitby another visit, it's been a while.

Great shots, i really love number 1, so simple but just wonderful

The first two are also my favorites.

I like the first for its simple composition and the second for its great eye lead-in.

Thanks Dimitri, the night shot I'd almost given up on, as the shadow detail was too much, especially on the pier. I tried PP with PSC3, and because it's far less destructive than PSC2, I was able to retrieve shadow detail, with my usual push/pull ways of processing.

Thanks Neil, with no4 I agree, there's not enough space up top for me, and No3, I originally felt the comp wasn't right, the sun and the lighthouse were too close, so I moved to the right to get that space between them.
Funnily, I'm more comfortable with the composition now than I was then?

Nice photos, I like the 1st shot best. Really nice deep colours.

I used to bob up to Whitby occasionally when I lived in sunny Scarborough.

I think i saw something similar in UAE but it is very far from my area, and i can't be there all the time.
I hope i will have chance to get in one of these places, but i live very close to the beach but no interesting sightseen i think.
