Thanks Dimitri, the night shot I'd almost given up on, as the shadow detail was too much, especially on the pier. I tried PP with PSC3, and because it's far less destructive than PSC2, I was able to retrieve shadow detail, with my usual push/pull ways of processing.

Well, you`ve done a very good job of it,i don`t think that you would ever need any more detailes in the shadows for a night shot than you already have here.

They're all good Les but it's definitely No.1 for me, it's an absolute cracker.

I will have to try this out as I have a few darker images which are beyond hope due to the noise caused by pulling in CS2 . Cheers.

Les, I find that 3, despite not being technically excellent (rule of thirds etc..) actually works, perhaps as the sun is still hiding and not in your face. :)

I like #1 best, but the two pier shots with the orange sky are excellent too.

I also like the way the railings are almost lit up in the night shot.
What is PSC?

#3 all the way for me, Les. I'd love to see a poster of that one. While #4 is tightly cropped, I still enjoy it and the silhouetted effect you've created. By the way, is that a tanker on the horizon under the sun in #4? I shot a sunset last summer with a large oil tanker coming across the horizon and it looked very similar.

The last shot is the pick for me, fantastic lighting and composition. I'm in two minds as to whether the buoy adds to the shot or not. I think it helps lead the eye to the centre of the shot then to the distance but at the same time, its also quite a vibrant red and one could easily just focus too much on it.

I love all of these shots Les. Whitby is definitely on my "must see" list.

You must've finished work on your garage I guess then?

Yes, they are absolutely stunning and #1 is my favourite! I dream of producing shots like this!
Ian

Thanks Ian, although it breaks quite a number of 'rules' ....50/50 horizon....central main subject.....minimal sky detail.....no foreground anchor.

So I reckon you can throw away the rule book sometimes :) ;)

More great golden hour shots Les

I love the colours and simplicity of the 1st one.

As the weather continues to be pretty dire,

What's happening with the weather Les? Perhaps post a pic of it?
