OK, lets see if I can get this to make sense.
I hate shooting with glasses. So what I want to do is get contacts for distance, so I can see the model when I look away from the camera. I'm not too concerned with reading distance, I can always pop on reading glasses.

I don't know if anyone here can answer this, but here goes. Is anyone using the 5D with distance contacts? I know I would need to use the diopter adjustment, but is it enough? Sorry if this is a silly question.

Jimi

Yep. I've got a worse correction than nycgrip, too. I need reading glasses to chimp though (presbyopia - drat these old eyes!). The diopter adjustment assumes 1 meter distance at "neutral". Go for it!

Thanks guys!! I'm thinking I'll need chimping glasses too. LOL I wear progressive lens now, so it seems I'm doomed to them. But the contacts will be a huge help. I don't have to chimp that often. Just so I can read the damn exposure settings! :-) At least when I look away from the camera I can see clearly what the model is doing without fumbling for the specs!
