Hi!
This is a macro shot that I took with my S45. How I did it? I made a simple but very effective macro lens adapter. I f anybody's interested I can post a simple sketch. All you need to make it is a small lens with diameter equal to the S45 lens diameter.

It is quite simple. Since the lens of the S45 (and many others) is not threaded, I use a plastic cylinder to hold the macro lens on the lens ring of my s45. As you can see on the above photo, the results are pretty nice. I took the "macro" lens from an old EF28-70 Canon lens, that was broken. The plastic body of the Macro Adapter ?! is from inside the same lens. I cannot tell how many +dioters it is, but I can take photos from just 1 cm with it! Good luck!

Since I've received several inquiries for posting a real photo of the S45 camera with my self-made "Macro Adapter", here they are:

I'm slightly confused. . . Does the new lens fit over, or take the place of the "2nd extension" of the original lens? I have an S50 and I'm looking for a macro lens to fit it. It seems the S45 has pretty much the same lens. I've also checked into the lens adapters and macro lenses that are posted on Ebay. Do you or anyone else know if they are reliable?? An adapter and a macro/wide angle lens was posted for $80. Is that resonable? Thanks.

Well. This is an external adapter, that is standing over the lens. Mine is a hand-made, self-made adapter. I've achieved great results with it, but I switched to a DSLR, and sold tha camera with the adapter.
$80 is a lot of money :( for such an adapter
PS I seriously think about starting a serial production of the adapter. I just cannot find the appropriate lense manifacturer. The price will be between 18 and 25 USD (without the shipping). But I don't know when I will be able to start the production.

Well if you do go into production, is there anyway that I (as your #1 supporter) could get a discount? :D
