good morning, i'm out to buy software for photo printing and adjustments. what do you think would be a better software or are they the same? they would be: COREL PAINTSHOP PRO XL or ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 5.0. do any of you have the programs mentioned or any thoughts of the products? thank you

I have Elements 4.0 and I really like that. I don't have any experience with the other. You might want to post that question here https://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=18
I bet there are many more people with experience with both programs that could help you decide. I did buy a book from Amazon to help me out with Photoshop and that makes it much easier!

This is just my personal preference but I use picasa for basic adjustments which is free from google and GIMP which is more feature rich but still free. www.Gimp.org (external link)

Why don't you try those first before going out to buy the other software?

I recommend PSP. Cheaper than PS and will do almost anything a photographer could want. I have PSP 9 which was the last version out before Corel bought Jasc, and have no need to buy the latest version.

I use PSP (10, currently), but through tomorrow (1/13) Staples has XI (full boxed, not an upgrade) for $40, so I'll be moving up.

Tracy,if you want to get a quick look at some of the work with elements 5 go here: http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com (external link)

The similarity to this site are the people and how willing they are to help. I have been using elements for years.

You're right - it was Best Buy - Staples had 2 GB Ultra II cards for that, and that's where I always go locally.
