Hey everyone.. What is a good lens to use for tee-ball games. I am sure most will be in the day, maybe a few night games but not really sure about that. Will a kit lens work ok? Season starts in 3 weeks and just want to know what is good for shooting this joyous occasion. My 4 yr old is finally able to play and not sit and watch his brother..!!!

Thanks everyone.
Kim

I shot the kids' games last year with the 28-135mm F/3.5-5.6 USM IS and had great results. I was one of the coaches so I was able to be on the field and get some shots. Granted, there are lenses with a little more reach, but I had good results with this particular lens....especially if on a budget.

If you can afford it, go for the 70-200L f2.8. It's a great lens and is very sharp. As the kid goes on up to other levels of play, attach a 1.4TX along with this lens to pull in those shots when your further away. I really love this lens and have took a lot of good shots with it. I have two boys and they play football, baseball and run cross country so this lens has really had a good work out in less than a year.

I agree with Tim. You have to ask yourself what kind of budget do you have.

The Canon 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM is $400 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ghType=categoryNavigation (external link))

The Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS is $1,659 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ghType=categoryNavigation (external link))

The 70-200mm non IS is $1,099 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ghType=categoryNavigation (external link))

Yeah I really wish I could get that lens, but right now it is out of my budget. Maybe in time for him to move up.. ??? It will take me about a yr or 2 to save up for that one. Unless someone sells one really cheap or something that one is just out of reach for me right now :( One day though, one day!!
