I am a happy customer. I have the older one (with the oblique clamp running across the ball). Very solid, and easy to clean. Very versatile, easy to get the camera into odd positions, and a perfect match to the gitzo explorer.

If you don't need to shoot at odd angles, the RRS seems even nicer than the acratech, but it's not quite as versatile. Also, I'd recommend buying the RRS body plate for the camera as it has a 1/4-20 thread hole and the acratech plate doesn't.

I found that it took a little while to get used to because you can't angle very much towards the high side of angled beam. You quickly learn to just loosen the rotating panorama mechanism and turn the upper part of the Acratech while keeping the camera pointed towards the subject. After a while you turn the tripod before set it up so that you will have movement in the direction you arel likely to need it. Also I sometimes set up my tripod centre post on a bit of an angle to give me more latitude in moving the camera.

I have really enjoyed using the Acratech.
