Does anyone know if it's possible to filter a Windows Explorer directory listing to show only a certain extension? Like changing the Address box to c:\images\*.jpg? (Which fails.)

I'm such a command-line geek that "dir *.jpg" is instinctive, but sometimes I need to use Explorer to poke around files.

In all my years of Windows I've never know this to be possible, but I figure somebody out there will know how to do it if it's even possible.

The only way I can think of is right clicking on the current directory and searching for *.jpg

Too many steps?

Heck, that works good enough.

Why'd it take you a whole 2 minutes?

Thanks!

PS: If you need any Unix help, just ask...

You can change the view type to details and sort by file type.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Yep, I do that often enough but I often like to sort all JPGs by date, as an example. Can't do both at once this way...
