Wow! Just playing with this new toy. (Shot #36 from this camera). ISO 1600, no PP, straight out of the camera, resized only. I am blown away.

Here's my duck:

It is hard not to rub it in. Once you see how great the FF sensor is, it's impossible to just keep the fun inside. Am I right? I was laughing for about an hour and then I remembered I had to buy 2 4 GB CF cards just to shoot one event. :(

If there is any down-side to this camera that is probably it. 2Gb cards are only marginally big enough, and then only if you have a few of them. Shooting in raw I can only get around 120 or so.

I'll try to live with it though. :D

I bought a P-2000 and it holds 30 GB. With 220/4 GB CF card that doesn't give me nearly as many pictures for a long vacation. But that's why I bought the 160 GB external hard drive for my laptop. Have to cover yourself. I've lost stuff so many times, I have backups for my backups. :)

One of the photography magazines I bought recently said the SmarkDisk Photobank was a good investment, but the downloading took a long time. Then Canon is coming out with the M30 and M80, both very expensive, but look impressive. If I was showing work to clients and wanted a portable album, I'd buy a P-5000 or M80 because those are wonderful viewers and portable storage units.

Santa got me the p-5000 and I love it since I shoot raw with Adobe RGB and the viewer can handle that color space.

Why do you like Adobe RGB? I've been experimenting between this and sRGB and I can't decide what it really does for me.

It's kind of future proofing. It's a larger color space than any monitor and most printers can handle. But who know what we'll have in the future.;)

Also there's some arguments that you can make more adjustments during PP before you loose data.

I'm not sure which side of the argument is right. I just figure I'll do the work flow that keeps the most information. It only adds one step, convert to sRGB before final output. Now I'm trying to figure-out if I should go to the Pro-Photo space.

Nice!
Amazing for ISO 1600.
I got some nice ISO800 pics. Perhaps I'll try higher.
It helps that the overall lighting is bright, no?

Abou the CF card...yeah...when I got it I was shooting with reckless abandon...and wam...my 2GB ran out of space!

Jeff, you've just begun to be amazed. I am so happy that I got this camera instead of a 20/30D.

Shortly after fooling around with Adobe RGB I remember looking at the files I downloaded and thinking "Hey, what's with the _MG.xxx?" It took me a while to put 2 & 2 together.

Thanks! The lighting mostly came from the 580EX bounced off the ceiling using the fill card. given the good WB it obviously overpowered the incandescent ambient light.

I think this shot alone removed any feelings of wondering if I made the right decision. Like everyone says, whether a 30D or 5D is better depends on what is important to you in a camera. For me, image quality trumps all other features. I think I might have actually giggled looking at some of the images that have come out of this thing. :D

David - BTW, you are stunning! :p
