I see you have a Linhof Profi II, same head as I have used for over a decade with my medium format system, 35mm system, and now dSLR. Superb product, that has the extremely useful variable drag capability, depending upon the weight that you are trying to maintain control over while the head is unlocked! Is that an Arca-Swiss style quick release on top of the head? (I use the Linhof Quickfix II myself.)

Good equipment lasts and lasts plus is a pleasure to use each time. In 20 years it will likely be worth more used than you paid for it (of course you may have wisely invested the money and that would be worth more as well but lets not go down that road as the money makes for a very poor camera support and you may also lose it all on a poor investment, why oh why must I put these stupid comments in the parenthesis).

thats a wimberly plate...glad to hear your has held up thru the years....this thing is built like a tank for sure and smooth as silk....btw....its a profi 3, not a 2....the 2 is much smaller...this thing weighs 2.8 lbs but well worth it when the cam is sitting on it rock solid...

Yeah, I noticed the Profi III name on the box while the picture was refreshing itself. That head is major overkill for 35mm use! I hope you don't have to go out lugging it around in the field too much, as there is additional weight that you should not need to be lugging around with a head designed for far greater loads than 35mm gear will put on it. Your camera would be rock solid on the Profi II, as well!

better over than under i guess....i wanted to buy one head and be done with it...this was it.....i build log homes for a living and on any given day probably lift several tons of logs and beams....dont think an extra pound or 2 on a ballhead will stress me too much....makes me smile every time i pick it up ! :)

Log homes...you probably need more beef on the tripod. If memory serves correctly (I'm not near mine or I would check) or even which model has it, I think you can mount a second Profi III head to the bottom of the center column to add more weight and make it more convenient to shoot close to the ground! ;)

Real nice head. Did you get it used? The box is destroyed on the corners. You do know the box is more important that what comes in it, no? :)
