New A710 Date stamp question

Hello all,
After going through the setup manual and trying to to get the date stamp to turn on, I cant. I have set the date and time, power is good, but yet when I go to the set up area the date stamp option is greyed out and when you arrow down it skips it so you cant turn it on (or off). Can any of you suggest what Im doing wrong? Your help is much appreciated. Thank you

I think that date stamp is only available in Postcard mode. I'm not familiar with the various modes of this camera, but I think that you will find your answer in the user manual.

Yes, Canon's only enabed Date Stamp across the front of the picture in Postcard mode. Picture date is stored in the EXIF data that's recorded for every picture, though.

Oleg is correct, you can only set the date stamp in postcard mode. The date stamp will only be visible once you've set your resolution to postcard.
