Looking good, love that light fall off on the full frame. I get it all the time too ;)

Superb shot! I was going to comment on the light fall-off. Is this due to vignetting in the lens?

Nice series. How was the weather?

Thanks all. The light fall off in this one is more a function of my position to the sun when this was taken. I used a 2 stop ND filter to give me some polarization, a regular polarizer would have given me some seriously uneven skies. I like the effect personally, adds a little character to the image.

The weather was bone-chilling-cold on Saturday, temps were in the 20-30's up high in the passes, and in the 40's on the valley floor. But there was a fierce wind that made it feel much cooler than that. Sunday was nicer, similar temps, but the wind was non existent.

Thanks for looking!

Very nice picture indeed!
I would have liked to have more ground and less sky given the wonderful texture of it. But that's just me and it may not correspond with what you wanted to get with the pic.
Good job!

Very nice shot. I like the comp and contrast of the sky and flats. It's very sharp as well, what aperture and lens?

Thanks Rob! This was taken with the Canon 20mm f/2.8. Exposure was 1/125 @ f/11.

Thanks for looking! :)

I love this shot. The only comment is that the horizon ia too close to being half way without being half way, and that is very slightly distracting.

Although the blue of the sky is beautiful, I would move the horizon up a touch, as the ground is more interesting.

By the way, I never new it was possible for a ND filter to have a polarizing effect.

Thanks George! I don't remember where I picked that tip up, but you can use ND filters to get that effect. Regular polarizers on super wides can result in some seriously uneven colors, but the effect is quite useful depending on the mood you're trying to convey. On these I wanted smoother skies.

:)
