During group photos at last weekend's wedding, the hotshoe on the camera was noticeably loose. I figured that over time with constant donning and removing of the flash, this might eventually happen.

Unfortunately, the flash failed to fire a number of times, subsequently - failing to trigger the off-camera flash.

Does anyone know how to tighten the hotshoe? There are no obvious screws visible and I'm not about to dabble in the unknown.

The camera technician is in tomorrow, but before I take it in, I thought I'd try posting here before I surrender the 20D body for - who knows how long???

Thanks in advance - Sam

There is a plastic cover over the hotshoe fixings which needs to be removed. Lever the rear of the cover gently upwards with a slim screwdriver and slide it out backwards.
Use a small X-head screwdriver to tighten the hotshoe fixing screws - make sure it fits snugly or you may damage the heads.
Replace the plastic cover.

All the best.

Thanks Toogy and Paul. I sent the body in and it took them 10mins - but cost me 65 bucky.

I'll know next time so thanks - thanks - thanks! Sam
