I like the tonal range, particularly the way you have expressed the darker tones. But the fact that virtually no highlights are burnt out, an in most cases you've allowed shadow detail indicates that in this extremely contrasty situation, you were absolutely in charge.

The composition however puzzles me. My mind wants to find a pattern here, and a subject that is clearly meaningful. Increasingly, we expect monochrome to convey more than abstract meaning. But I cannot find it. I particularly pulled to that semi transparent shape on the left which simply puzzles me. But not in a provocative way.

In all, I love what you are doing with tonal range and craft. But I crave more here to satisfy my intellectual/emotional curiosity. Maybe others will help me better explore this image?
