I see a lot of people talking about Dell monitors so I went to the Dell site and say this monitor. Have the prices on a good quality widescreen LCD come down that much or is this just not a very good monitor? I love to save money but sometimes when prices are very low I like to find out why.
The native resolution on this widescreen would be very nice to work with for image editing and to have that extra desktop real estate.

Any feedback? Assessment of quality? Feelings about buying monitors form Dell?

thats a brand new model that they just announced. its also their bargin line of monitors. its much better to look at their ultrasharp models. i have the 2007FPW and it is a fantastic montior, great for printing, editing, gaming, movies, anything you can throw at it. its only $100 more than the monitor you mentioned. Apart from image quality, the higher end models also come with more inputs and options, and a very nice stand that rotates between horizontal and verticle (plus all teh other normal turning directions). I cant reccomend the 2007FPW enough. great monitor.

OOhh, ok that says it all. I know about bargain lines and quality is the first thing to go when brings bargain prices to the consumer. Is the 2007 the 20" widescreen?

Yes the 2007WFP is the 20" Widescreen, but be careful there's also the 207WFP which is the bargain widescreen. The 2007 is the ultrasharp that so many people rave about. I just received this monitor several days ago, did a rough calibration with Adobe Gamma (need to order calibration software) and so far I'm really impressed with the color and real estate.

I sell LCD's for a living and even I was skeptical about going to an LCD monitor for photo editing. So far no regrets.

Cool! Thank you. Just for laughs, does anyone know about this one. It is part of the Ultrasharp line.

I was just looking at the specs. The reviews mention needing a card that will support 1900 X 1200 with 256MB if video RAM. How do I check or know if I can support this monitor?

your video card type is listed in control panel>system>hardware>device manager>display adapter (on windows xp that is). tell me what model it is and i can probably figure it out.

Right-click on your desktop, chose "Properties", then Settings. Under "Screen Resolution" try sliding the control to the right and see if 1900x1200 shows up. Don't alpplyu it; just Cancel out. But if it's there, it'll work.

Why on earth would any monitor "need" 256MB of Video ram?

That requirement is totally bogus.

The resolution requirement is of course a very real one.

I wonder about the cost of shipping??? If the shipping cost is $30 or more, it's proabaly better to buy something locally. Tom
