Another point about buying locally - it's easier to exchange if you think there are too many dead pixels.

I think in the case of a monitor I would agree. The problem is that none of the local retailers come close to having either the selection or prices you can find online.

But the idea of packing and shipping a monitor back, should there be a problem, is not fun or convenient.

I have had the first dell 24 inch widescreen for almost 2 years now, Great monitor that I paid $1000 for. The price on that link is fantastic if you can afford it go for it.

It is cheap but the real question is how do those monitors look compared to the 'Ultrasharp' line. If this is part of the generic line then I don't think I am interested. I can't see a good reason to skimp on the image quality on the monitor if I'm spending good money on a camera and lenses to produce beautiful crisp images.

Also, my computer is not anything fancy or high powered so I question whether I will be able to use large monitors like this at their native resolution. If I can't then I want no part of it because I've seen how LCD monitors look at resolutions other than their native res.

Because my PC can't drive anything over 1024x768, that's what my 2007WFP is set at. Yes, I know it isn't widescreen format, but it looks pretty damn good to me.
