Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye

I'm very interested in this lens, but theres not an archive for it yet. So if you have this lens, show me what it can do!

I say just get it. It's a specialty lens, so not everyone is going to have it like a nifty fifty, kit lens or any of the other popular zoom/prime focal ranges. It'll probably be my next lens. God knows I've put off buying it for years. Looks like a lot of fun though.

Definetly, I tried it out at BHphoto last week and I was hooked. I'm definetly getting it, its just a matter of how fast i can sell my 70-200 f/4L!

Yes, they were cropped...but just a bit on each side. There is no vignetting with this lens on a full-frame sensor because the EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye shows a 180º angle of view using a rectilinear design.

Here's one I took of a food court.

Choose subjects carefully, and the lens is amazing: don't, and it gets boring quickly.

And don't forget the pictures can easily be straightened.

So what would the end result look like on a 1.6x crop exactly? i mean, obviously it will be cropped a bit, but vignetting was mentioned....would this not be a great lens for a rebel?

I think I may be leaning towards the tokina 10-17....but won't be picking up a new lens till spring rolls around, to give me time to save as well as research.

the 10-17 sounds great, but the 15mm's 2.8 does sound nice

If you truly want a fisheye look like you see above you would not be happy with this lens on a camera with a 1.6 crop factor. For that I recommend the Sigma 8mm f/3.5 EX DG or the Peleng 8mm.

It's a "wide with distortion" on a crop body. Go with the above recommendations, or get a 135 sensor camera.

No, because it doesn't look as 'fishy' on a camera with a 1.6 crop factor. There are better alternatives. See previous posts above.
