Lovely shot just not sure about the light background, it gives it a light feel but a darker on e might have isolated her better... difficult to say , interesting face though

Don't forget to sumbit to the BOOK folks ;) ;) ;) ;)

Very nice, I really like the colors in it. Gives a very nice warm feeling.

Not sure how I would've controlled the background given it was a candid shot at an event. But thanks anyway. ;)

I know it's difficult but I imagined in my mind if you moved to the left the dark patch to the upper right might have been behind her... that's what I meant.

Difficult though . I shot some women in Algeria in 84 and they were razor sharp to cameras you onluy had to look at them and they wanted money for you to take pics. I don't mind in proincple helping less well off people but it would make it impossible to take pics if you gave everyone money for a pic:cry:

lol I don't think moving anywhere would've helped much in this situation. She was on the dance floor and everyone was moving in a big cirlce. I know it's hard to tell that, but trust me. The light background actually consists of other women in traditional dress, which is typically white or some really light color. Thanks for the advice nonetheless. ;)

There was a couple of times people asked me for money to take their pics. So I stopped trying to be polite by asking permission, put on my PJ face and shot whoever the hell I wanted anyway. I found that if you look and act like a typical tourist photographer, people will try to take advantage of that. If you act like a professional, they'll be at your mercy.

I Algeria the problem was that the last time they saw photographers , the only time people got teir pic taken was before they got shot in their last war, prior to the likes of me turning up more recently

So I guess there was afair bit of resentment against having a pic taken , the comlete opposite of Greece where they couldn;'t have been more obliging

The old lady below was really pi**ed off at me! I got an earful in Berber!
(scuse the quality of these the tansparencies are over 24 yrs old)

It's an interesting shot. I particularly like that it presents a culture I'm not familiar with, which is maybe the biggest reason that I enjoy national geographic (likely even moreso than the quality of nat. geo's photos themselves, which are excellent). I had a moment where I wasn't sure of the harsh shadowing on the face but I think given the context that it was the dance floor of a wedding, there's some added interest to think of a dance floor under harsh mid day sun, which is another thing that isn't really very common to myself as a Canadian.

Actually, this shot was taken outdoors at night. Though it's hard to tell, there was a strong light source on the subject. ;)

The 85L was sold a while ago. I miss it sometimes, but I get along just fine without it. ;)
