In Havre de Grace, there is a nice lighthouse to shoot. And also off the Havre de Grace exit, you can shoot Rock Run Mill in Susquehanna State Park.

Could try coming back the southern route and hit Chestertown (bit of a detour N.), Centerville, or St. Michaels. Blackwater NWR's near the Bay Bridge too, IIRC.

I know this is a personal thing, but I almost always go the Delaware route because of those trips BITD - those stretches of US 50 that are long, straight, and lined with tall trees in the median as well as the outside of the lanes are hypnotic to me, and trying to drive them at midnight after a full day of work was adventurous and potentially deadly. The "over the top" route was, and to some extent still is, more visually interesting with more opportunities to stop and referesh. Unless I need to go to Easton or Salisbury, I don't think I'll ever go the Bay Bridge route driving by myself, and this trip home will be after a weekend full of beer and late nights.

The points about Chestertown, St. Michaels, etc are very good, but I'll need to save them for another trip.

Have Fun,

Rick

P.S., here's just a small sample of what you a shot could look like in HDG.

I talked to one of the guys, who lives in Salisbury, and we are going to meet in South Bethany, DE at 5:30, so that is my target - I can start whenever, but I need to be in South Bethany by 5:30. We will be the first to the house - the rest of the guys will come down after work. It looks like HDG will have to wait.

Chris, that bait you hung out there is very tempting. I can get to HDG in less than an hour from home, so I will save that for a trip by itself.

Have Fun,

Slightly off topic - but, if you take rt.40 across Susquehanna (Hatem bridge) that same $5 toll will buy you a sticker you can put in your window for unlimited free trips & good for a year. Unless they've changed recently, but it's certainly worth asking about.

Excellent, thanks.

I did go all of the "old ways" that I could, and I stopped a couple times to take some shots. Unfortunately I could not get some of the things I wanted, as time moves on - the grain plant that I wanted to shoot is now a sediment pond, and there were other situations like that.

I stopped briefly in HDG, took some shots of a gazebo in a park near a marina - tried to find the lighthouse, but I must have missed a sign or something.

All in all, the weekend was a success, and I spent time with some guys I haven't seen for several years, drank too much beer, and got way too little sleep.

Have Fun,

Rick

Have Fun,

You should have walked the boardwalk, you would have found the lighthouse ;)

That is, if you shot the gazebo I'm thinking of.
