As part of my college course on *people* I have given myself a Brief from an upcoming new publication - A new photography magazine called Photo Junkies - Its aimed at the younger audience and I am being asked to create some shots for thier first issue.

So Im playing on the word Junkies...I decided to put photography references within photographs with references to the drug culture of today.

Ive got lots of idea's at the moment and these were just a few a shot tonight to see how they would turn out.

Im interested in if you think its worth carryin on with and expanding on these few pictures ive done or am I flogging a dead horse! lol

This first one im semi happy with...Just when you imagine it in your head it never comes over the same in reality does it!

I do like this one..But the syringe cannot be seen which in some ways is good as its a suggestive picture but there was negative in the syringe so I think it would add to the pictture if seen? I do like the angle on this one.

I do like this one as well. Dealing films. I think that the Films maybe need to stand out more though? Hmm!

ANY INPUT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!

EYELIKEDURT gave me this idea and I love it! My nan actually took the picture after a 2 second crashcourse about exposure! Go Nan!

I like this series, I like the fact that you included a "deal" and then rolls of film all over the floor witht he camera strap tying off the arm. I'm no expert, but I think they work.

I pay canons electric bill!

Thankyou...I tried to substitute everything I could with something photography related.

I wasnt 100% sure about these at first but ive had some great feedback!

Thankyou so much :)

Just my 2 pennies worth but i'm not liking the theme so far, it seems a little too simplistic substituting film for drugs. Maybe you could try to find a theme showing the extremes people go to to get a shot. the 600mm lenses, The elaborate setups for macro, The L addiction. I'm sure there are other ways of showing the addiction too.
Maybe as a photographer ( very amateur ) there is something about comparing something I like to all of the negative things surrounding drugs that puts me off of the series. Although I'm sure the addiction to l lenses and a bigger and better body, Tripod, flash. etc has ruined several relationships it is nowhere as destructive as drugs.
As I said just my 2 cents.

( of course I am hoping my girlfriend is not home when the ups truck arrives on Thursday)

I like the idea but as a poor student I dont have te funds to be able to provide L lenses and such for shots and as for people looking at the photographs who are not that much into photography they wouldnt even know what a macro set up is or an L lens for that matter so it limits the audience to only really hardcore photograhers/hobbiests and such and i dont want to alienate anyone.

But as for being simplistic i was always taught the KISS rule......Keep It Simple Stupid.

I like 'em. I don't know what he's snorting in the first though. As for the needle, it would work with or without. You should crop or clone out the face of the guy on the left in the "deal" - keeping it 100% anonymous. Great job!

Very inventive and humous! I like it! I would like #1 to be just a little clearer... I had to look at it a minute to get what you were doing. Where the others were obvious. Good job!!

I don't think they're too simple - infact it took me a while to realise it was film:o

I think these work really well!
