I originally posted this elsewhere, but it's really in keeping with the subject of this thread.

Wow, this is one of the best I have seen. Is this taken in your neck of the woods? If so, we should do a train get together (or just a quick no-notice photo shoot some day)while we are waiting for the living desert get together to kick off.

That was taken between North Palm Springs and Cabazon. This was an unusual sight, although we have trains through there all day long. The Pal Springs Amtrak station is a great place to trainwatch. You can see them coming from the west for a few miles, so you have lots of time to plan your shots.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

here's a more newer one. train was crawling, but when the engineer layed on the horn people paniced and tried to beet it out, even though a snail was moving faster. Before this shot a car barely escapped beeing hit with the knuckle.

I have not posted in a while, I captured this the other day near Rectortown, Va. Thought that it might conform to this thread. Creative comments welcome.

NJT can't just stick with whats out there and proven technology. They gotta go and re-invent the wheel. This is an Alstom built PL42ac. Similar to GE's P32/40/42, but uses EMD 16-710 primemover and wayyyy to many computers. So many problems with them. But boy are they quiet.

Took this last week. NYSW's SU-99 has been leaving early and makes for some great shots from its eastern terminal all the way to the NY border if there are no delays. Here its about to pass the fully restored and historical Maywood station. NYSW F45 3636 is on the point.

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v621/2005GLI/Train%20pics/NYSW3636atmaywood.jpg

And here is a shot of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Westerns Hoboken terminal which is operated by NJT now. Station is undergoing extensive repair and renovation, restoration. The clock tower was topped off earlier in the week. Lackawanna is lit up in red at nigiht, but hasn't been since it was installed.
