Rob, the shot i just posted is the picture i took when these guys took a shot of me.

Ah I see. Now that I think of it, sitting on the tender might have been too close to get it at a decent angle. That's the reason why the cabs of most locos have a sliding section in the roof - it's too hard to see otherwise - us humans are so darn tall ;)

I agree Greg, that one was one of my favourites as well. I think he was the F-111 pilot too, if I remember correctly.

Here are a few signal/signs from the day (I really like the first one :)):

Yeah he does fly F-111's. He's a good example of how many people from the hobby comes from such diverse walks of life.

The photo is typical of the humourous tone of the club :) The ants moved their crossing 1 metre north during the workday the previous week according to my father. That explains the two ant trails - there is usually one. :)

i was told he has the slowest train there, which amuses me, cause he fly's the fastest plane! He zooms thru the skies, and put-put's on his train!

Nice shots Nick, that first one is real good. Strangely enough it look just like a miniature model! This shot and some of mine remind me of that technique people use to make shots look like miniatures - except ours are real.

thanks for the comments Tina.

I caught the end of getaway tonight and there was a segment on the Binna Burra Lodges and it looks veeery nice! Is there still a camp being organised for that?

Oh oh and I've got another very interested buyer in my business so fingers crossed this one doesn't fall through then I'll have a lot more time and energy for photography.

I know just what you mean, Greg. I love the results people come away with using that miniature technique.

Here's a few more of my shots (of the actual trains this time) over in Transportation.

Hi everyone,

Ok well I did it. Last night I bought studio lighting. AAAAARRRRGGGHHHH! Very scared now, I wonder if this now takes my photography beyond being just a "hobby" and more into the "obsession" category. haha.

Anyway, it should arrive in about a week. Very nervous :-)

That's a nice photo, Tina.

What did you end up ordering, Rhi?

I'm not sure of the brand (gee, that's a good start!) but it's a kit - 2x 300W flash lights, 2x stands, 2x softboxes, 2x silver umbrellas, 2x white umbrellas. I also bought a background stand along with a black and white muslin backdrops.

$957 in total which I didn't think was too bad considering backdrops are about $199 at Photocontinental...

Just an ebay purchase, hence the nervousness. I now need a light meter... And the wish list goes on ;-)a

Lol Greg, you remind me of me when I got my first PDA. I was all excited about being able to surf the net where ever I was. But then I got my first phone bill which was about triple what it usually was, but it definatley was fun!
