Sam, is it one of the walls on the building near southbank? There's a green wall and a blue wall too?

Thanks Kelsey,

I have been pronouncing it "almost" right.

And it was your photos I spent all last night (and most of tonight) processing. I've only just finished the ones of Alysse.

What's LV? And what's an Air Break Switch? You've got me curious now.

Carjo wrote in post #3868670 (external link)
My dad is like that. He sometimes gives me a running commentary of the setup of the powerlines and such when we go driving every now and again. Though considering that they (my dad and Greg) both work for Energex it is hardly surprising. :p It's a good thing that they know their stuff though. :)

All the better to edumucate you.

I think we all need to start taking photos of power poles, Energex stuff and getting Greg to detail it for us.

LV Pole - my guess low voltage pole?

Also still ok for a 'Roo point night shoot next mon or tues night. If it is tues night, you will all need to bring a lens to give to me a birthday present ;)

Good guess - you're right LV = Low voltage = <1000V, HV = High Voltage=>1000V

An Air break switch is a mechanical switch bolted to the top of a pole that is used to switch power on and off. They have operating handles located at ground level. Can be very dangerious to operate if not done correctly... picture lots of sparks and molten copper falling on you from above. We have remote controled versions of these about also.

Love to come Tues but I'm mr mom for the next few weeks from Tues as the wife is going to London on a business trip.

Didn't you say something about 11kV though. How does that fit in?

11kV =11000V or the lowest "distribution" high voltage in SE QLD

next is 33kV, then 110kV then 132kV then 275KV, Energex don't do above 132kV and Powerlink don't do below 110kV.

And don't worry about not being from Brisbane. We already have a couple of interstaters here.

There's one in particular just south of the border. Right troublemaker she is!

hahaha thats ok then at least I'm not alone.
I'm mostly an Aviation kind of photographer, hope people don't mind me sharing a few shots of aircraft. I am into other forms of photography so hey expect anything I guess.
