gah, why does lens buying have to be so hard??? The low light music photography that I do dictates that I need fast glass and of course they are just so creamy as well and of course after having the Sigma 30mm 1.4 and borrowing Feng's 50mm 1.4, the idea of going back to f1.8 is like pulling teeth.

The 30mm and the 50mm on the 350d were just about perfect in length coverage. On the 5d the 50mm replaces the 30mm and then I am tossing up between the 85mm or the 135mm to replace the 50mm. The 135mm is f/2 and one of the finest lenses Canon has ever made I am thinking mmm only f/2 and whilst I would sell a toe for the 85mm 1.2 that is just a bit out of reach at the moment so that takes me to the 85mm 1.8 which is also a mighty fine lens but dam why couldn't Canon do what they do with the 50mm have the basic 85mm 1.8 which is cheap as chips, then a 85mm 1.4 usm which is the mid price and then the 85mm 1.2L.

gah don't even get me started on the wide angle options.

I think I will get the 85mm 1.8 decisions decisions decisions

Heres another pic of my nephew holding his big sisters finger.

Wonderful shot, Nigel. I agree with Greg - frame it!

85 1.8 is about as perfect a replacement for the 50 1.4 as you're gonna get. 85 1.2's exy... you can try mine if you like, but it's heavy and slow... but it's great for portraits.... not too sure about your gigs though :)

wait??? online shopping is what the net was made for.

I was sort of waiting for Feng to get home from church to talk me into getting the timer remote for the 5d for an extra $100 instead of the standard remote. Though he must have talked to me with the force because I decided on the timer one.

Now I am off for the day - going to southbank and then to Bulimba to see a Midsummer night's dream in the park. sweet stuff

Aaarghhh! I can't come Monday. :-( Just remembered my son has a Dr appointment at 6:30 - do docs actually work that late? It took us 3 months to get, so I can't cancel and reschedule (trust me, this crossed my mind! ;-)a )

I'll definitely be there Tuesday though.

That's what I thought. Didn't realise she was going to buy it this instant.

So what does this timer remote do for the extra $100??
