I was just thinking that as well Nick, Paul's one liners are one of the highlights of this place.

Dill Pickles may cost $5.95 but the sweet 'n sour ones are free :)

It will be interesting to see what Powderchair do - I prefer Silverfinger as a name but know why they probably didn't choose it due to the band called Goldfinger.

Here is my photo from the midnight service at the Shrine last night. It was an interesting service but it was nice and small which was really good.

Oh so it my problem again. Maybe I should become a scrooge type and not lend out stuff. ;)

Thats the thing isn't it, when we all get together and swap both knowledge and equipment we all learn heaps but that's when those not so subliminal yearings for new gear come about.

Boy that was profound wasn't it!!:D:D

Here's a bit of a work in progress. :p

Anybody know of a good edge treatment. you know torn edges etc. I'm happy with the crud on it, not sure about the cracks. Probably gonna add a white border. comments folks?

Greg, I can't help you with the torn edges, but I think there's so much "fungus and fly poo" on it that I can't make out his fag at all. Perhaps reduce the fly poo a tad?

Cool Shay, did you see the thing the other day about the formation of Powerchair. Combination of Powerfinger and Silverchair.

No greg i didn't see that, but i did read about The Wiggles joining Snoop Dogg and putting out "Wake up Jeff, before I put a cap in your ass".

Also I'd like to bring up Tina's suggestion of a group BBQ with a bit of a slide show sometime. sounds like fun.

Greg its just my opinion but it might be a bit over done? the cracks look abit artificial and i think its lost alot of detail that the original had like the smoke and badge on the collar.

I like those cracks Greg, but agree about not been able to see the rollie.

A BBQ sounds like a great idea.

Has anyone seen Marty Pouwelse's photos? here are a couple of links - Flickr (external link), own website (external link) and storm chasing (external link). His photos of Brisbane at night are gorgeous and wouldn't I love to borrow a spot in the apartment block at New Farm that he uses for the fireworks.

I made the impromptu decision to attend the dawn service as well as the march. 90% of the crowd were already there, so I just found an empty spot in the bottom of the square and tried the best I could. 5 shots was all I got.

I have a journalist from brisbanetimes.com as a contact on deviantART. So if I get a dslr before ANZAC Day next year I'll "try" to see if I can somehow get a press pass so I can get into the good areas. I doubt it'll be anything more than a pipedream though ;) By the looks of the website they have their own photographer. I think I may have done better - let's see when I get the prints back. :)

I saw a few hot air balloons going along the river later on, so I got some shots of them. I also got some previously unattainable shots thanks to the road blocks, barracades and the general lack of traffic. I got to the marshalling area around 9am and met up with Greg soon after. Almost lost my tripod there for a second. :p Took 7 shots of people that were there.

Headed up to my spot near Starbucks - saw Paul en route. Stayed there once the parade started, used the rest of that 36-exp roll and a whole 24-exp roll. I left to find a restroom - took me half an hour. Got back, changed rolls and took another 18 shots before the parade finished.

I wondered why there were so many Harleys on Elizabeth St. I found out why when I got back - there were bikies in the parade.

All in all it was a good day, though I have thought of a few things that might make it better if I go again in years to come. :)

I agree, a BBQ sounds grand. Just let me have plenty of warning so i can get that day off work.

I think I need a new lens. I tend to only use the 28-80 for architecture, street etc and then the 75-300 for longer range stuff, but the march revealed the need to have a mix of the two, say 40-200 or whatever is close to that range. Any suggestions as to any good lenses - Canon or otherwise? :)

Ahaa! Greg's and my subliminal ploy has worked!:D

My dad had a tamron 28-300mm for a couple of weeks. Seemed like a good range for a film set up, just not for a crop DSLR. The optics wernt that great but they certainly wernt bad either, especially for the price.
