Well don't forget guys this image was taken to go along with a story on a restaurant review.
Specifically a lunch review, the "girly drink" is what we refer to as "ice tea" here in Texas.

Placing it further right would have put it on the edge of the table, which would be a somewhat unnatural position for the table setting...

I love this forum, it is such a cultural tour de force.
I see where you are coming from with regard to the position of the glass but only if you were seated at the right hand end of the table.
I had imagined the meal set out for me, as the viewer through the eyes of the camera, in which case the glass was in the wrong position for me to pick up.
I now see that the table is rectangular; not square, as I had imagined from my "sitting position". Obviously a misunderstanding, but none the less the way I saw it.
BTW, I like the waiter. He adds to the feel of the whole experience.
