Was just playing with some new gear i got over the holidays. A new flash, and a new tripod head. Kinda fun :)

I suppose more DOF would make it look a little more realistic ehh?

I don't know. The DOF seems fine considering one of my Hot Rod magazines has pictures of a car with a shallow DOF.

The background is the only thing that I see that prevents it from looking more realistic.

Very nice shots!

Thanks!

work on the background and post in the macro forum - we need some toy shots to balance all the bugs!

Haha no doubt! But it's not really macro is it? I'm still fuzzy on the definition of macro.

Hmm, maybe the DOF is a little too shallow. It still looks great though. Was your aim to make the car look realistic?

I agree that these would definitely add to the Macro forum. Macro is basically (and mind you, I am a low-level amateur) to my understanding, extreme close-ups and magnification, mostly resulting in a shallow DOF with the subject, or a part of it in focus with vivid detail. (Others, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)

Anyway, they're still great pics in my opinion. I love the lighting on you did on the car.

I always thought Macro photography resulted in a 1:1 magnification or higher of an object.

MPOWER is technically correct, however these days most "macro" shots are not 1:1. Indeed, many "macro" lenses won't even shoot 1:1! Most people call any close-up a macro shot.
