You either know exactly what you're doing or done something you shouldn't have. If it's the latter, put the lid on the pot and call a professional.

Indeed a Coral, and certainly poisonous. On a good note though, this snake's fangs are in the rear of it's jaw, so invenomation is less likely.

Yeah, definitely a Coral snake there. I always was told "Red against black, you're okay Jack. Red against yellow, you're a dead fellow." Yeah,be VERY careful with that beauty. bright colors often have meanings in nature...

in the future i would probably suggest that if you dont know what you are doing dont touch it...especially if you are not sure if it is poisonous or not...coral snakes are a pretty common poisonous snake (at least here in Florida they are). also there is a variety of kingsnake that uses the same colors but, as others said, with the red and black bands touching. kingsnakes are non-poisonous but, as with any snake, can still give a painful bite!

lol, i am fine :)

when first saw it, since i have 2 cats and a dog, i didn't want to leave it around here, when my kitten was playing with it (about 7 months old), the cat seemed smart in that it would always stay behind it, not getting hers it's head and more a curious swat to the tail of the snake now and then, snake really just wanted to get away.

I had thought of trying to pick it up with my hands when i first saw it, but was smarter then tat and thought "this is costa rica after all" so i went and found my massively long BBQ tongs and got it by the tail and placed it in the deep pot, i had the lid on it, and took it off only to take pictures, i was about 4ft from it when i took the pics.

I was very very cautious with it not knowing what it was and more so once i found out what i was.

i did let it go, down the street near some jungle area (not close houses)

So, what will i find next! window's in my garden, snakes on my patio, centipedes and millipede's are the house now and then..... scropions stinging me twice..lol

Althought wondering if a net is around as just over a week ago my cat was playing with s much much smaller baby snake, but i did did see the colors on it.
