Owl, are one of my favorite bird. During the christmass vacation we have the chance to observe 3 of them: the saw weth owl, the barred owl and the shy long eared owl. So it was a h"owl"ly period. Unfortunatly I want to use the flash as a fill in light, but it ended as the main light, too late!

Hi, and thanks for your comments. I use the 30D with the 400mm f5.6L lens, the flash are the 430EX. I also use a sigma 70-200mm macro for wildlife photography. This one and the 400mm are very sharp lens, they amaze me every time.

Excellent shot Avan, especially nice since you had to lower the IQ for the board. :)

Thanks Mitch, you'r right in full size it's even better. I made a print 8.5 X11inch and it's so detailed you can even see the texture of the digital print of the foot.

Sweet!!! You must be quite proud of this one. Saw Whets are supposed to be quite common here, but I've never seen one. How did you ever manage to spot this one?

It looks quite good considering the light source. A beautiful little owl and i count myself quite fortunate to have seen one even if only once. Nice capture!

Nice capture Avan; you did very well.

By any chance are you familiar with John & Scott. These two guys have photgraphed the same 3 owls in Montreal Area...It seems that the owls are pretty reliable to be there when going to photograph them.
