Newb question - how to get best quality out of 18-55 Kit Lens

it preforms really well at f/11

I'm pretty pleased with it even at f/4.5 (i was surprised how sharp this one came out in low light)

Remove it from the camera! j/k

Most people say that this lens is best from f/8 to f/11. Stop it down, use an external flash, and practice a lot.
