Today bought a Canon IXUS 900 Ti as a carry round camera along with my 5D...........

I knew it would not be able to compete with a DSLR never mind 5D....but I did not expect it to be as bad as it is.

The 900 Ti is a peice of junk.....even at ISO 100 the amount of noice is really shocking.....not much better than a camera on a mobile phone.

Had I not ditched the box, I'd have taken it back tomorrow.......so it's now on EBAY !!!!!

That's one reason I always keep my boxes until the return period has passed.

I actually still have the box....fished it out of the bin.........so hope store will refund it for me........

It really really has made me appreciate just how good the 5D is compared to a point and click.......

I get married later this year and did'nt fancy lugging a hefty DSLR around with me on honey moon, which was part of the reasoning behind getting what I thought would be a good compact......WRONG.........so just gonna take the 5D !

Going to Rome/Florence and Venice (4 days a peice)....so be shame not to capture it with a good camera !!!

Yes, the 5D tends to spoil you like that. ISO 1600 on the 5D looks like ISO 200 on the 350D. ISO 1600 on the 350D looks like ISO 200 on the P&S. Now that's pretty messed up ;)

Honeymoons are once in a lifetime events, or so they're supposed to be. I'd take the 5D, 24-105 and a flash.. that's it. That'll do everything I need it to. 350D is good too but just take the 5D.. it's truly something special.

Fuji f20/30 are meant to be good P&S in low light. I use a G6 as it shares batteries/CF cards and Speedlites.

After using the DSLR the past several months exclusively, I recenlty took out my Powershot S400 and it took me a couple minutes to figure out how to use it.:lol::lol:

Go figure...

I think we all know that an SLR camera is much more versatile than an aim and shoot. I know, because I worked many years with SLR cameras. But to think that today's better digital aim and shoots won't take a good, sharp, clear picture without noise is just plain wrong, because they will!

Well my Mrs has a Sony T9, and it's performance is actually better than the IXUS 900 Ti, but noise is still apparant.

Setting the ISO to lowest (80) and setting to superfine and results are better......but with the 900 Ti not having IS, hand holding without using flash (which can kill a shot) is very difficult, and tripod would be a must.......and who's gonna carry a tripod for a compact camera........defeats the purpose of having a compact !

I believe Lunix/Leica modles are better but cost close to entry level DSLR and are only a little smaller !!

I've just gotten to used to the quality you get from a good DSLR, so will just use it 100% of the time. :D
