Hi I finally got my ball head. I am not at home so I do not have the 055Prob in front of me. Please also forgive any stupid questions as this is my first manfrotto tripod/head or good quality tripod for that matter. I use to have a old pan head ones.
In the ball head instrcution sheet, Setup 1 informs to Assemble the head on the tripod usng 3/8" female thread "A". I am assumming the 3/8" fmale head is already on the tripod.
Then it goes on to say...The top plate on the manfrotto tripods are equipped with three set screws "B" which clamp against the base of the head to ensure effective and secure locking.
I don't have the tripod with me now but looking at the bottom of the ball head, I only see one female thread of which I am assumming using the tripod's 3/8" male screw.
I don't see anymore female threads under the ball head to accommodate that three set screws 'B' which is suppose to clamp against the base of the head?
Am I missing something here?
I am going off to a short holiday on sunday and I'd like to brihg the tripod with me so I only have Saturday to set it the ball head and tripod up.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Rgds
many Thanks
Patrick

The three screws will be in the plate on the tripod and they simply apply a compressive force onto the ball head plate when tightened. It really works quite well. I use the same set up you are and am very happy with the combination. Have a good trip :D
