Hi, I vaguely remember reading about a more practical lens cap on the forum for this lens. It looked like a steel disc with rubber grommets attatched, to locate inside the lens hood/in front of the front element. I think a link was posted for B+H but there's nothing on their web site (that i can find, anyway), but I could be wrong. Any other users have suggestions? TIA

i use a Hoodhat for my 300 2.8 to put over the end of the hood and/or over the lens end. i believe the size i have is the XXL. Its Neoprene so it goes on and off easily, and doesnt take up much room.
